Hot Weather Guidelines

All shipments - unless otherwise posted - originate in Florida. We can service the entire state of Florida, with the exception of a small area in the Panhandle, within 1 day shipping.

How hot is it?

It is not our aim to burden your shipment with unnecessary expenses, but it is imperative that we protect 'heat sensitive' or 'perishable' food products. An ice pack will last only about 15 hours and will give you limited protection. Dry Ice is available but we have to purchase it locally and it is not cheap.

For smaller quantities of chocolates or Gummi Candy, we recommend at the minimum an ice pack. These ice packs would be used in conjunction with our standard boxes in which we normally ship our food products. The following choices are available.

Polar Packs are re-usable and non-toxic, stay frozen longer than ice and are very economical to use. We will select the size that will fit the box, but you may specify the size and how many you would like to receive with your shipment.

If your order includes 'heat sensitive' food products and your shipping destination cannot be reached within one day transit time, we recommend that you ship your selection via UPS Blue Label. This will guarantee you second day delivery by UPS.

Please consider our foam boxes for additional protection. These boxes are constructed of industrial strength, leak proof expanded polystyrene foam. These boxes are appropriate for any product that must be kept cold for extended periods of time or for products that must be kept frozen. All coolers come complete with a base and lid and the walls are 1-1/2" thick.

All foam containers are reusable, recyclable, and contain no CFC's
The boxes can ship with gel packs or dry ice. The choice is yours.
It is recommended that you use at least 2 gel packs. We place one gel pack at the bottom of the product and one gel pack on top.

We buy these polystyrene foam containers from Mr. Box Online and you can check our cost readily by clicking on any of the boxes below. There is only a small incoming freight factor added to the cost of each box. (Don't forget to click the "Back" button in your browser to return to this page!)

If you are planning to ship French Truffles to destinations where the temperature may impact on the quality of the product, we suggest our small or medium size leak proof expanded polystyrene foam containers.

Small Box

The small box has only room for a single box of French Truffles, but can be shipped with a maximum of five 8 ounce ice packs, one on each side of the box of truffles and one additional pack on top or bottom. Your Truffle box will be wrapped in plastic for protection.

Medium Box

The medium box has room for four boxes of French Truffles (250g each) and will accommodate easily four 16 ounce ice packs to protect the chocolate. This box will also easily accommodate two of the oval tins or two of the heart shaped tins. In addition there is sufficient space for four 16 ounce ice packs.

Medium Box

The medium box has room for two tins of French Truffles (500g each) and will accommodate easily one 16 ounce Gel Packs and two 8 oz Gel Packs to protect the chocolate. This box will also easily accommodate two of the oval tins or two of the heart shaped tins.

The box lid has been removed to facilitate picture taking.

Large Box

The large box as shown contains 1 Oval Tin (500g) and 6 boxes of Truffettes de France (250g) each on one layer.

Large Box

This second image of the large box contains the same first layer of Truffettes as shown immediately above, but a second layer of 6 boxes for a total net weight of 7 lbs of Truffettes. There is sufficient room for Gel/Ice Packs or 'dry ice' that could be placed in the center of the container.

The medium box has room for a maximum of sixteen 8 oz Schaller & Weber Caps. If you are not familiar with the term "Caps", please click on the link below. We can pack a maximum of 16 individual sausages in this box and still have sufficient room for Dry Ice. The image on the left displays 8 Caps standing upright and two layers of 4 Caps each. These two layers are not readily visible, but there are indeed 16 Caps in the cooler box.
